Dr. Cassens received her Ph.D. from Tufts University in 1975 and completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Neuropsychopharmacology at Harvard Medical School at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center (MMHC) from 1975-1977, a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Adult Clinical Neuropsychology at Boston University Medical School (1980-1981), and Post-Doctoral training at the Developmental Disabilities Clinic at Harvard Medical School (1981-1982).  She became Head of Neuropsychology at the MMHC from 1981-1986 and held a joint position at the New England Deaconess Hospital and MMHC as Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School.

Dr Cassens was subsequently invited to become Director of Neuropsychology at the Institute of Living in Hartford, CT., founded and became President of the Connecticut Neuropsychological Society (1987-1990, 1995) and founded the first Post-Doctoral Training Program in Neuropsychology in Connecticut.   In 1993, Dr. Cassens was invited to become Director of Neuropsychology in the Department of Rehabilitation at Hartford Hospital and worked closely with physicians and rehabilitation specialists in Neurology, Neurosurgery and Trauma.  She became Associate Professor in Clinical Psychiatry at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.   
Dr Cassens extended her private practice to full time in 1996 and specializes in children (6 years and older), adolescents, and adults with psychiatric disorders, learning disabilities, head trauma, neurological processes, medical diseases,
and environmental conditions that alter the Central Nervous System. 

Dr. Cassens is a licensed psychologist in Massachusetts
and Connecticut.
